Brisbane Lions midfielder Will Ashcroft has been deemed available for selection this week as he prepares to make his long-awaited return from an ACL.
Ashcroft, the Lions number two draft pick in 2022, had his debut season cut short after rupturing his ACL in Round 19 against Geelong last year.
The 20-year-old has been back in full training for the past month and today was given the green light to play this weekend.
Although available for selection, the Club is still yet to decide whether the talented young midfielder will play at AFL or VFL level.
That decision will be confirmed on Thursday when final teams are announced.
Ashcroft is not the only Lion set to make his return, with young defender Carter Michael also available for selection after a lengthy battle with injuries.
Michael, who has overcome a number of quad and knee injuries in the last two seasons, is expected to play VFL on Saturday.
Co-Vice Captain Josh Dunkley had a scan on his glute on Monday following Saturday’s win over Port Adelaide, though trained on Tuesday and will play against Melbourne.
