The Brisbane Lions expect defenders Noah Answerth and Brandon Starcevich to be available for selection ahead of Sunday’s Round 19 clash with Sydney.

Answerth has been sidelined for the past month after dislocating his shoulder in the VFL, while Starcevich missed the weekend’s win over West Coast after entering concussion protocols following a head clash against Adelaide.

Both players trained on Tuesday and will train again on Thursday where they will need to tick the final boxes to return to play.

Their pending return will give coach Chris Fagan and the Lions some extra defensive options to take on the ladder-leading Swans at The Gabba.
