Queen Mary stuns in heartwarming family snap at graduation event

Must read

Queen Mary has stepped out in style for her eldest son’s high school graduation event in Denmark, with the whole family snapped celebrating the big milestone together.

Denmark’s King Frederik has released an unexpected new book just days into his reign.

The King has opened up about his private struggles growing up as a future monarch as well as his marriage with his Australian-born wife Queen Mary.

In the new autobiography, King Frederik said he feels happy that he and Queen Mary “managed to stay together”.

The new release, titled The King’s Word, came as a surprise to Danes who were not anticipating a book by their first new monarch in 52 years.

Daily Mirror Royal Editor Russell Myers has sat down with Sky News host Sharri Markson to discuss the Danish King’s new autobiography.

The family gathered together on Sunday to support Prince Christian as he formally finished up his studies at the Ordrup Gymnasium, located in a coastal suburb just north of Copenhagen.

Queen Mary swapped her tiaras and gowns for a more summery ensemble, pairing a print midi-skirt with a gorgeous white blouse and tan heels.

She accentuated the look with bronze eyeshadow, gold jewellery and a tote bag.

Her husband, opting for chinos and a navy blazer, was right by her side along with their other children Prince Vincent, Princess Isabella and Princess Josephine.

The family smiled, looking relaxed and happy as they posed for photos and answered questions from local media who were present at the event.

Prince Christian’s grandmother, former queen of Denmark Margrethe II, was also there to congratulate him on the milestone.

The heir to the throne was seen proudly wearing a sailor-like student cap which all students graduating high school in Denmark typically don for leaving celebrations.

Sweet photos posted to the royal family’s Instagram show him being embraced by his parents on the special day.

It is thought the 18-year-old will attend university later this year and then complete some form of military training. However, no formal announcements have been made.

The Prince made an oath to honour the Danish constitution after he turned 18 late last year, allowing him to step in as regent in the event both the King and Queen were unable to govern.

“When Prince Christian, in the presence of The Queen, The Crown Prince and the government, has made his solemn declaration, for the first time in more than 100 years there will be a situation in which there are both a successor to the throne and an heir to the throne of legal age who can step in as regent,” the royal’s official website said.
