It looks like Aaron Ramsdale‘s three-year association with Arsenal will come to an end this summer. Rasmdale was Arsenal number one during the 2021/22 and 2022/23 campaigns, having usurped Bernd Leno from the role.
However, the England goalkeeper has now himself been replaced, with David Raya taking his spot in the last season. Raya joined on loan from Brentford last summer, with a view to a permanent move, which is expected to be finalised in this transfer window.
Ramsdale only played six Premier League games last season, the four at the start of the season and the two against the Bees that Raya was not allowed to play in against his parent club.
The former Sheffield United man opened up on his current situation in an interview with talkSPORT prior to the start of Euro 2024 when he said he could not have another season like this one. that all-but confirms he will be looking elsewhere this summer.
Ramsdale said: “No footballer wants to not play. “I’ve had a tough year personally not playing and I never want to do that again. It was tough, it was tough.”
Ahead of the Euros, Ramsdale was invited to take part in Ben Foster’s YouTube channel, taking on the shooting challenge. Ramsdale acquitted himself well during the challenge, coming out on top after a variety of different tasks, beating Foster 15-14.

After firing home a couple of volleys, Foster said: “I think you’re wasted in goal. I think you’re wasted in goal. Put him in a red Emirates shirt.”
But while Ramsdale may not be an Arsenal player much longer, he has risked the wrath of his current supporters by something he did later on in the video. During a one-touch shooting drill, Ramsdale fires a superb effort low in off the post.
The strike had Foster purring and when Ramsdale turned around he did the Harry Kane goal celebration. Not ideal doing a celebration of your fiercest rivals’ all-time top scorer.
And that was not the only occasion. Ramsdale had also brought out the Kane celebration earlier on in the video when scoring his first goal in a left-foot challenge.
The Arsenal keeper would go on to celebrate with other players celebrations – namely Marcus Rashford and Bukayo Saka – but it is the Kane one (or two) that may well grate with Arsenal supporters.
