Prince Louis may not have physically been at Wimbledon with Catherine, Princess of Wales, but his sister Princess Charlotte ensured his presence was there in spirit with her silly facial expressions.
The same could not be said about Prince George, whose “incredible composure” as he and Prince William watched their beloved England lose 2-1 at the 2024 UEFA Euros Final in Berlin on the same day could not have been further from the cheeky antics his younger siblings are known for.
It was later revealed by William and Catherine that Louis did, in fact, watch the football match in private with his older sister, raising the question: Why wasn’t the six-year-old also deployed with his 10-year-old brother and nine-year-old sister to the sporting events?

One X (formerly Twitter) user joked the youngest Wales child “partying at home” à la Macaulay Culkin in Home Alone, and it’s perhaps because of Louis’ famous cheeky antics that he was left at Adelaide Cottage.
Wimbledon’s etiquette rules are notoriously strict, with the elite event’s code of conduct guide requesting spectators, “Please don’t make any noise during a rally.”
Should a spectator make excessive noise during a match, they could be removed from the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club grounds – and perhaps that’s a chance William and Catherine don’t want to take with their youngest son, whose hilarious reactions to royal events almost always steal the show.

There’s also a precedent William and Catherine have set, be it official or unofficial, with their oldest two children – both George and Charlotte have attended Wimbledon twice each, but in both cases, neither of them attended until they were aged eight.
Following the George and Charlotte logic, Louis has two years left until he can join his mother at the prestigious tennis competition – but the fact he was left home last year was something that made him “very upset”, Catherine said at the time, so he may be invited along earlier.
As for the football, both George and Charlotte did attend matches when they were younger in a private capacity with their parents, and it’s only been recently that George has accompanied his parents to special matches in an official capacity.

William, an avid football fan like his eldest son, is president of the Football Association, which is the governing body of football in England, and often hands out awards during high-stakes games as part of his role.
Like William, Catherine also hands out the trophy to the Men’s Singles winner at the conclusion of Wimbledon because of her role as patron, something she did earlier this week in what was her second public appearance of the year.
Charlotte, meanwhile, watched on from the stands alongside Catherine’s sister, Pippa Matthews, who was also seated in the Royal Box.
This isn’t the first event Louis has missed out on, with the youngest Wales notably skipping Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour show in London last month, while William, George and Charlotte got to meet the singer and her NFL star boyfriend Travis Kelce.
Catherine also missed out on the event, though she has been keeping out of the public eye as she receives treatment for cancer.
