An influencer who just wanted to show off her ‘outfit of the day’ was shocked to receive a threatening message from a woman who had apparently sent it by mistake.
Bella Varelis, from Sydney‘s east, posted a snap of her casual outfit, comprising a grey knit jumper, loose-fitting vintage jeans and a cap, on Instagram Stories.
One of her followers then replied to the post with an offensive message that was seemingly intended for someone else, but was accidently sent to Ms Varelis.
‘I would kick her if I ever saw her,’ the woman wrote.
Ms Varelis quickly realised what had happened and told the troll to stop following her account if she finds her content so rage-inducing.
‘Well, why would you follow someone you want to kick? Sounds a big contradictory, no?’ she fired back.
Ms Varelis then posted a screenshot of the exchange, and wrote: ‘Honestly some people on the internet are horrific.
‘This girl – who follows me – replied to my story instead of forwarding it to her friend.

‘I’m honestly disgusted that someone would actually verbalise wanting to physically harm another human being. You have no idea what someone else is going through mentally and a small negative comment can send someone into a spiral.’
Ms Varelis decided to ‘name and shame’ the woman because ‘if you aren’t happy having your name put to the words, they should not have come out of your mouth’.
She later said in a follow-up video: ‘I’m getting a lot of messages asking if I’m okay.
‘I’m okay, but I’m upset because it’s a really unnerving feeling to think someone wants to physically harm me.
‘No one should ever have to feel like they could potentially leave their house and be physically harmed.’
‘I’m not tolerating that behaviour and that is why I named and shamed her. Especially with everything going on in this world and the abuse that is happening in Australia, it’s sickening and disgusting.’
Ms Varelis said she always tries to create a ‘happy and positive environment’ on social media and wants to show women it’s ‘important to stand up for yourself’.

‘I want to show you if anyone is ever negative towards you or emotionally or physically abuse, it is never something you should tolerate,’ she continued.
Ms Varelis then broke in tears as she added: ‘There is a lot of other stuff going on outside of my life online.
‘I try really hard to keep my personal life private but also being open about my mental health with you guys, and I’m not doing too well at the moment which is why that kind of messed with me at the moment.’
