Recycling fashion contest lights up

Must read

In the spirit of recycling and reusing, HK Electric and the Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong co-organized Back in Fashion, a fashion design competition that encourages stylish creations made from used items.

Nearly 30 entries from over 220 submissions across the four categories — open, parent-child and secondary schools — participated. The designs were showcased in a grand finale last Saturday at the Central Market with child and teenage models.

Winning designs are: Utopia, The Recycling Fairy, Rewritten Echoes, and Kinship. “We organized this competition to encourage participants to transform discarded clothes and materials into unique, beautiful, and creative eco-friendly outfits,” said Francis Cheng Cho-ying, HK Electric Managing Director and judge.

The Green Energy Dreams Come True competition funded by HK Electric concluded on the same day.

Twelve teams from tertiary and secondary schools shared their green dream projects.
