Collingwood and the Western Bulldogs are among the clubs interested in West Coast defender Tom Barrass, reports AFL Media’s Cal Twomey.
Barrass, 28, is currently contracted at West Coast until the end of the 2026 campaign and was targeted heavily by Sydney across the last trade period but ultimately opted not to move.
This time around, Twomey says that the Pies and Dogs are showing an interest, despite both clubs not having their first-round picks for the 2024 Draft.
Amid the interest, Twomey says that the Eagles are hoping to lock the 2022 best and fairest winner away.
“Right here, right now, there is growing interest again in West Coast’s Tom Barrass,” Twomey said on AFL.com.au’s Gettable.
“Sydney made a big play for Barrass last year, but he stayed of course.
“Clubs have come again. My understanding is Collingwood and the Western Bulldogs have shown their interest in Barrass who is contracted at the Eagles for another three seasons until the end of 2027.
“He turns 29 this year, so it’d take a good offer to get him out, clearly. The Eagles are also looking at it and are keen to do some work around keeping him with his deal and locking him in to stay.
“Interestingly, both the Dogs and Pies don’t have their first-round picks which I think is what it’d take, but they both have future first-round picks of course.
“But the interest is once again ramping up for Tom Barrass.”
Another veteran Eagle that is the target of rival clubs is unrestricted free agent Elliot Yeo.
Yeo has been linked to both Adelaide and North Melbourne and Twomey says that Collingwood and Brisbane – his former club – are putting their hat in the ring.
“Then there’s Elliot Yeo,” Twomey said.
“He’s on a bye week and he has the interest there from a number of clubs including West Coast to keep him.
“Across the country, there are clubs interested in him – Adelaide of course, I can say Collingwood is among the clubs with interest in the premiership Eagle … he’s also been linked a little bit to Brisbane his former club, which is interesting as well.
“Does he stay or go? I still lean towards stay, if the deal is right. But certainly, the interest is there.”
Yeo has returned to form in 2024 as he’s averaging 23.1 disposals and 7.6 clearances across 11 games.
