REVEALED: Major new music festival coming to Perth in Spring

Must read

Perth festivalgoers are finally in for a treat with a major new music festival on the way after a disappointing year of cancelled events across the State.

Promise Village is the new kid on the block which will hit Langley Park on Saturday, October 12 with many international superstars set to perform.

Headliners of the R&B event include UK R&B queen Jorja Smith, UK rapper J Hus, and Nigerian rapper Rema along with other acts such as Uncle Waffles, Headie One, Nemzzz, NSG DBN Gogo, Sarz, Jazmine Nikitta and Sasha Fern.

The festival co-founders — who also run Gold Coast festival Promiseland — had the idea of bringing the same headliners of their three-day event in October to Perth as well.

Speaking with PerthNow, one of the founders Emal Naim, who grew up in Perth, said he was excited to give the city something new.

“We’re giving Perth the chance to see the same headliners from the Gold Coast,” he said.

“This is a long time coming for Perth and we can’t wait to host a music festival on a global standard to a community of fans who have been waiting patiently.”

Naim, who also runs multiple Aussie festivals including Souled Out, has seen huge success with Promiseland after four years, with about 45,000 to 60,000 people attending across the three-day event.

With the huge success of Naim’s previous festivals, it seems like Perth concertgoers are in for an epic day ahead.

Guests can expect “Afrobeats, R&B and UK-based artists”, something the city doesn’t see very often.

Naim explained how choosing the location was an easy choice thanks to the help of the City of Perth.

“Langley Park is a great location, it’s right in the heart of the city and the City of Perth have been really great in helping us make it happen,” he said.

“We’re expecting about 15,000 to 20,000 to attend.

“This has been in the works for about a year and a half and we’re ready to give Perth people what they deserve.”
