Rihanna‘s hair game is unmatched. Just this year alone (and keep in mind it’s only halfway over), the singer has revamped her look multiple times, confirming there isn’t a cut, color, or texture she can’t pull off—from blonde bombshell waves to a flippy pixie, a pink wig, and even natural curls.
And on Friday, Rih put this theory to the ultimate test while debuting a divisive Y2K hairstyle at her partner A$AP Rocky’s American Sabotage by AWGE menswear spring-summer 2025 fashion show during Paris Fashion Week. For the occasion, the mom of two showed her support for Rocky in the front row while wearing a white tank dress that included garter-style details dangling from the hemline and a cropped puffer coat in maroon with a white fuzzy lining. She accessorized with oversized red-rimmed sunglasses, layers of diamond jewelry, and a dramatic pair of rhinestone-studded stilettos.
However, it was her shift in hairstyle that caught our attention the most. Swapping her natural curly crop that she showed off at her Fenty Hair launch earlier this month for a Y2K cut and color that consisted of long, poker-straight strands with streaky blonde highlights, as well as a chunky side bang.
Rihanna’s new waist-length locks are likely extensions, as she recently opened up about her struggles with postpartum hair loss after welcoming her sons, Riot Rose and RZA, while speaking with Refinery29. “That was not on the pamphlet,” Rihanna said of her hair falling out following both of her pregnancies “I did not expect it to happen in waves, either. I thought it would just happen and grow back.”
She revealed that bald patches would pop up at different times before she declared that she had “enough.” Rihanna added, “I learned to embrace that in itself. That actually made me get a little more creative and clever with my hair stuff.”
