GOLFING star Bob MacIntyre had already banked more than £3 million before his first PGA tour victory, new figures have revealed.

MacIntyre, from Oban, Argyll, became the biggest financial winner of any Scots golfer in a single event after beating some of the game’s leading names to win the Canadian Open’s £1.3million prize.

He dedicated the victory on Sunday to his father Dougie – who was called in to caddy for him at the last minute – and vowed to pay off his parents’ mortgage with his winnings.

But latest accounts for the 27-year-old’s personal company Bobmac Golf show he has already made a fortune from his seven-year professional career.

The firm posted a profit of almost £1 million last year to boost its value to more than £3 million.

The business declared total assets of almost £3.6 million for 2023 which included £2.5 million held in a bank account and a £460,000 investment portfolio.

It owed creditors just over £500,000 within a year, leaving MacIntyre with shareholder funds of £3,035,987 – a rise of £872,000 on the previous year’s figure.

MacIntyre set up the Oban-based business in November 2017 shortly after he turned professional, following a successful amateur career.

He is the sole director of the company and owns all the shares in it.

In its first year of trading, MacIntyre made just £29,000.

Last year he also set up a property firm called Ganavan Limited for the ‘development of building projects’.

That company, which is also based in Oban, is yet to file its first set of accounts.

After his win on Sunday, MacIntyre paid an emotional tribute to his father, who is head greenkeeper at Glencruitten Golf Club in Oban.

He also explained that when he was growing up there was a time the family was unable to afford the fees for him to enter junior competitions.

MacIntyre said: “He’s going to get a nice pay cheque out of it and my mum and dad will be mortgage-free now.

“It’s incredible. Everything that I’ve done in my life has been with the support of my family.

“The game was passed down the generations, he taught me the game of golf.

“When I phoned him to come and caddie for me, I honestly was just coming here to play a golf tournament, there was no expectation.”

MacIntyre, who was part of the European Ryder Cup team who defeated the USA last year, is set to return to Oban this week before flying back to the States to compete in the US Open.
