RTS sin bin stuns as records tumble in shock thumping

Must read

The Warriors loss to the Titans has been compounded by concern for Roger Tuivasa-Sheck after he was sin binned for a dangerous tackle.

On the advice of the Bunker, referee Adam Gee gave the centre his marching orders in the 53rd minute, bringing shock in commentary after Jayden Campbell landed on his back.

“Plenty are even asking, was it even dangerous?,” commentator Matt Russell said on Fox League.

“That’s a big call … the frustration we see, particularly with the fans, is the consistency we see around that space,” league great Corey Parker added.

Tuivasa-Sheck’s departure came when the damage was already done with the Titans leading 36-0.

The Gold Coast were out to a 30-0 lead at half time after a dominant 40 minutes.

Alofiana Khan-Pereira, Beau Fermor, Chris Randall, Keenan Palasia and Sam Verrills were the tryscorers.

Coach Des Hasler‘s men then continued their rampage with Khan-Pereira first to score after the break.

With Tuivasa-Sheck off the field, the Gold Coast ran in three tries through Keano Kini, Campbell and Khan-Pereira while the Warriors did manage to hit back with one four-pointer to Te Maire Martin.

Kini then grabbed his second try of the afternoon to make it 60-6, which became the highest score by any Gold Coast first grade franchise.

Right on full time, Khan-Pereira then grabbed a double hat trick to become the second Titan to score four tries. The other was Jordan Atkins, back in 2008.

Campbell then converted to end the game at 66-6. His 26 points makes him the greatest single game pointscorer in Titans history.

Along with Tuivasa-Sheck’s sin bin, the Warriors will have another concern after Te Maire Martin was put on report in the first half for dangerous contact.
