“My nine-year-old said, ‘you’re cut off,'” Reynolds confessed at a press conference attended by 9honey Celebrity in Seoul, South Korea, ahead of the release of Deadpool & Wolverine.

“She said she was gonna divorce me if I ever do a Deadpool movie again.”

The comment got the crowd laughing, but the 47-year-old actor and producer was candid about the toll filming these massive superhero flicks takes on him and his family.

“That’s why I haven’t done one in six years because it swallows my entire life whole.

“And I’m not complaining, because I have the best job ever, but some of the sacrifices are that I’m not home as much as I want with my family.”

In fact, another of his daughters – he shares four children with wife Blake Lively – was furious at him for leaving her at home again as he embarked on the press tour.

But not for the reason you’d expect.

“My daughter’s best friend the whole world […] is from Seoul, and they’re devastated that I didn’t bring them with me because I’m cruel, heartless and a terrible parent,” he joked.

Australian icon Jackman, who has reprised his role as Wolverine for the film and attended the press conference alongside Reynolds and director Sean Levy, took a dig at Reynolds’ parenting as well.

“I’m just a fan of Ryan. He’s an awesome guy, genius marketer, not a very good father,” the 55-year-old laughed.

Reynolds waited six years between the second and third Deadpool films both because they take over his life, and because he was waiting to find the right people to work with.

He brought Levy on board to direct after working with him on Free Guy and The Adam Project, but it was actually Jackman – who was close mates with both – that first introduced the pair.

Deadpool & Wolverine would be the first Deadpool project since Disney officially got the rights to several Marvel Comics characters, including Deadpool and the X-Men, giving Reynolds, Jackman and Levy plenty of lore to play with.

Now fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are hopeful that the flick will revive the superhero genre, which has flagged in recent years.

“Marvel hit a bit of a rougher patch, maybe than normal. They required a little bit of a reset,” Reynolds said of the timing of Deadpool & Wolverine’s upcoming release.

“My wife, Blake said to me, ‘Did you somehow orchestrate it this way?'”

He promised, of course, that wasn’t the case.

Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine opens in Australia and New Zealand on July 25.
