The South Australian Cricket Association is pleased to announce that Mick Delaney has been appointed to the role of South Australian Women’s Head Coach.
A former cricketer who spent three seasons with South Australia, Mick moved into coaching following his playing days and over five years with Cricket ACT held roles in the talent pathways and coach development, as well as Elite Teams Lead.
After returning to SACA as Head of Female Cricket Development and Pathways earlier this year, Mick steps into the Head Coach role with a wealth of experience in player development and a passion to drive a talented and experienced group towards sustained success.
Delaney spoke of the strength of the list and his excitement to take the team to the next level.
“This is an incredible opportunity and I can’t wait to get started,” Delaney said.
“With so many brilliant players and people both on and off the field, the SA Women’s team is ready to take the leap to the ultimate success and I know we have the right people in place to achieve those goals.
“There are certainly big shoes to fill, and I want to take this opportunity to thank Luke Williams for all his continued support and the amazing work he has done with this program. I am so excited to get preseason underway as we resume working towards our targets.”
The SA Women’s Team officially begins preseason training on Monday 17 June. Several players have taken opportunities to continue playing in the northern hemisphere summer, with the entire group to come together in the coming months.
