Senator Sarah Hanson-Young stunned onlookers at the Midwinter Ball in Canberra on Wednesday night as she stepped out in a see-through gown.
The Australian Greens politician, 42, who was the youngest woman to be elected to federal parliament, looked stunning in the sheer black frock.
Glittering beneath the light with diamantes, the outer layer of the dressed poured down the South Australian senator’s figure and ended at the ankles.
A second nude layer underneath hit her mid-thigh as she posed up a storm with her husband-of-two-years, executive director of The Australia Institute, Ben Oquist.
Pulling her dark locks back into a glamorous up-do, Sarah matched her bold red lip with vibrant nail polish on her fingers and toes.
Accessorising with a few staple pieces of silver jewellery, Sarah was all smiles as she cuddled up to her partner who looked dashing in a black tuxedo.
Sarah and Ben tied the knot in 2022 when the South Australian Greens Senator took a weekend off during a busy election campaign to marry her ‘best friend’.
The lovebirds exchanged vows in front of 80 guests at Lobethal Road Wines which is less than an hour northeast of Adelaide.
Due to Covid border restrictions, the two families were unable to meet in person until the big day.
Sarah donned a stunning strapless lace dress by Adelaide designer Alexis George for the happy occasion.
Colleagues in attendance at the ceremony included Greens senate candidate Barbra Pocock, former Greens leader Bob Brown and member for Sydney Alex Greenwich.
‘Because of Covid, my side of the family, the family who live in Victoria and Ben’s side of the family who live in New South Wales haven’t actually met until now, so it’s a lovely bringing together of the two families,’ Sarah told The Advertiser at the time.
‘We’ve been friends for a long time and as the pandemic was hitting we kind of fell in love and it just happened.
‘It was this beautiful transition from friendship into something more intimate and I feel like I am marrying my best friend. We just both feel so lucky.’
Ben proposed earlier in 2022, while the pair were celebrating Sarah’s 40th birthday on Kangaroo Island, after two years of dating.
