Serious allegations after young woman thrown from ute in rollover

A man was allegedly intoxicated and speeding when he crashed a stolen ute, causing a young woman critical injuries as she was thrown from the vehicle in Brisbane.

The 27-year-old man and 24-year-old woman were travelling in the dual-cab ute on Paradise Rd in Pallara about 3am on Monday when they rolled and hit a tree.

The woman was “ejected from the vehicle”, police said.

She suffered a life-threatening head injury and was rushed to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition.

The man, from Collingwood Park, was taken to the same hospital with minor injuries.

He has been charged with dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm while intoxicated and excessively speeding.

He is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Police have alleged the grey Toyota Hilux was stolen.

Anyone who lives or travels on Paradise Rd in Pallara has been asked to check their CCTV or dashcam footage for the ute on Monday morning.

A forensic crash investigation continues.
