A sex worker has revealed she once earned $15 in one night as a stripper, blaming the lack of tipping culture in Australia for the measly amount.
The woman, who lives in Sydney and goes by her stage name Snowy Alaska, made the admission to comedian Benjamin ‘Frenchy’ French on the ‘Frenchy Show’.
‘The lowest I’ve ever made as a stripper is $15,’ she said.
The figure is drastically smaller than the thousands of dollars strippers have claimed they make in one night – with one saying she earned almost $2,000 from a shift.
Alaska explained it was not uncommon to make such a low amount of money, saying Australia did not have the same tipping culture as the US.
‘There’ll be a girl dancing on stage, and nobody’s tipping,’ she said.
‘In Australia, it’s completely different. In America, tipping culture is big. Like you tip your waiter. In Australia, it’s not common to give out the money like that.
‘So it’s even unnatural to watch people do it. Some are good, but you can tell a lot of men just don’t want to spend the money.’
Customers in Australia don’t usually pay tips, unlike the US where a 20 per cent tip is added ontop of the cost of the service.
Alaska’s admission left the host absolutely stunned as he revealed he earned more working as a soccer referee at a kid’s game.
‘The busker out the front gets more than that,’ Mr French said.
Alaska revealed her pay went up drastically and that she made as much as $2,500 in one night once she switched careers within the sex industry.
‘That was just from massages and doing bookings,’ she said.
Alaska said she decided to start making money by offering massages after she met a group of men who told her she would earn more.
‘They sold me on the party bookings. They’re a great way to make money,’ she said.
The adult entertainer now provides personal services for clients, including ‘naughty video calls’ or ‘custom video requests’.
One stripper, who is known by her stage name Lana, said she earned $1,795 in a single night.
Lana, who is from Newcastle on the NSW central coast, documented her first work trip to Sydney in 2022.
She only made $10 for her first ‘stage set’ but was then ‘taken for a lap dance’ where she made another $100.
Lana ‘did a couple more lap dances’ then was booked in ‘the diamond room’ for an hour.
Lana made $1,195 in total from 10pm until 3am before leaving the club for a private job nearby.
