Shadow of the Erdtree Is the Catwalk for Elden Ring’s Fashion Show

Whether it be in Elden Ring or Dark Souls, Fashion Souls is something many players look forward to when playing a Soulslike title, especially one made by FromSoftware. “Fashion Souls” is a term coined by the Souls community for the aesthetically pleasing cosmetic customization options in Soulslike games, and the term gains even more meaning as players show off their gear combinations to their friends and in online forums. Elden Ring carried on that tradition by giving players a vast array of cosmetic options to choose from and its one and only DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, has taken the base game’s fashion show to another level.

Elden Ring‘s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC takes players to the Realm of Shadow, where they are tasked with pursuing Miquella the Kind by following the various crosses he leaves behind. Along with an original story and a new world to explore, players can acquire at least thirty new armor sets, each of which showcases a unique look for them to add to their Fashion Souls ensemble. Of course, these items are more than merely cosmetic pieces, as each one provides players with stat bonuses and other notable gameplay benefits. Still, most players will wear anything that makes them look good, so long as they are willing to pay what is referred to as “fashion tax” — an exchange of lesser stats for a more attractive character.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree Has Some Incredibly Distinctive Armor Sets

Soulslike titles are known for having some rather bizarre-looking armor sets, and Elden Ring‘s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is no different. One of the most eccentric pieces is the Divine Beast Head, which is acquired by defeating the Divine Beast boss in Shadow of the Erdtree. This helmet resembles the head of the Divine Beast, and to make it even more interesting, it is abnormally large. Commander Gaius’ armor set is another rather odd-looking set, as it makes players’ heads look much smaller than their torso. Nevertheless, the armor is unique and can be considered stylish.

Even Some of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree’s Normal Armor Looks Good

Elden Ring‘s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC may have plenty of bizarre and unique cosmetic options available for players, but it’s not short on stunning normal options either. The Solitude armor set is arguably one of the best-looking normal gear sets in the DLC, outfitting players in some very intimidating traditional knight’s armor. It’s more than worth the effort to obtain, which requires players to defeat the Blackgaol Knight in the Western Nameless Mausoleum.

Another alluring normal gear set is Rellana’s armor, which dresses players up in a silver armor set with a long indigo sash draped over the right shoulder. Shadow of the Erdtree’s Rakshasa armor set is perhaps one of the more stylish normal sets in the DLC, as it adds a bit more flair than the others. Aside from outfitting players in a rusted copper armor set, Rakshasa’s armor features some sort of frayed cloth in its seams. Finally, the Oathseeker armor set is one of the most traditional sets available, yet it still includes some rather intricate designs on its chest and waist pieces.

It’s great to see FromSoftware continuing to make intentional choices when it comes to the armor sets it designs, and Elden Ring‘s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is the perfect example of that. The fashion show that Elden Ring started, Shadow of the Erdtree continues with unique additions to the base game’s wardrobe that are often both bizarre and traditional in their appearance.
