Doherty filed paperwork last week requesting monthly spousal support of $US15,343 ($A23,000) a month from her ex-husband Kurt Iswarienko, 49.
The TV star has also requested a $US9,100 ($A14,000) payment from Iswarienko for her legal fees.
In the documents, Doherty states that she has been unable to work since 2022 due to her cancer and has been living off residual payments from re-runs of her hit show Charmed.
“As a result of my recurrent health issues, I have been largely unable to work and have no future employment prospects,” Doherty stated in the documents.
“Today, virtually all of the income I earn is residual income from work that I performed prior to marriage.
“The majority of my residual income is from a television show called Charmed.
“I recently learned that Charmed will no longer be streaming on any major streaming platform after June 30, 2024.
“As a result, my future residual income will dramatically decrease.”
Because she hasn’t worked as an actress for several years, Doherty is also about to lose her SAG (Screen Actors Guild) insurance benefits.
Doherty said the medical costs for her cancer treatment were “exorbitant,” totalling around $US21,640 ($A32,433) in 2023.
She claimed that Iswarienko, a photographer, was spending money on an extravagant lifestyle whilst she was struggling.
“While I have been unable to work, incurring exorbitant medical expenses not covered by insurance to undergo experimental treatments in hopes of prolonging my life, Kurt has been utilising the aeroplane, spending thousands of dollars at medical spas, jewellery stores, Gucci, and on flights for his ‘agent’, while simultaneously claiming that he has insufficient funds with which to support me,” Doherty alleged in the documents.
The agent Doherty referred to is Collier Grimm, whom she claims is Iswarienko’s girlfriend.
“Although Kurt’s income is substantially more than mine, he has not made any temporary spousal support payments and has made no contributions to my attorneys’ or accounting fees and costs since the time our divorce action was filed,” Doherty continued.
Doherty then went on to claim that her ex-husband was essentially waiting for her to die.
“It is abundantly clear to me that Kurt is intentionally delaying settlement in hopes that I will not survive the divorce proceedings,” she claimed.
The pair married in 2011.
In 2015, Doherty was diagnosed with breast cancer.
She was in remission by 2017, but three years later her cancer returned and has since spread to her brain and bones and become terminal.
The pair announced their split in 2023.
The separation was acrimonious, with Doherty claiming that Iswarienko was cheating on her in the last two years of their marriage, a claim he has denied.
