Cam Luke believes Stefi Magnetica is the perfect horse to target towards the Golden Eagle in the spring.
The three-year-old filly has been sent to the paddock after her Group 1 Stradbroke triumph on Saturday with connections eyeing off the riches of the Sydney Spring Carnival.
Trainer Bjorn Baker and connections are yet to confirm their path forward with races like the Golden Eagle and The Everest the two most obvious choices for the talented filly.
SENTrack’s Luke believes she’s worth a play in the $10 million Golden Eagle believing the 1500m trip is ideal for a three-year-old on the rise.
“I have backed Stefi Magnetica for the Golden Eagle,” Luke told SENTrack.
“It’s a 1500m race for only four-year-olds and she’s a $30 chance ($26 as of Tuesday morning).
“I like her, she was pulling away from Bella Nipotina on the line, she’ll mature a little bit in the meantime and I think she’s a very adaptable horse in terms of where she can run in transit.
“A small play on her in the Golden Eagle, she’s a serious filly that has had a really good preparation.
“She should’ve probably won the Fred Best had she had the same run as Roll On High, she probably wasn’t in the best part of the track but she was outstanding in the Doomben 10,000 and huge on the weekend.
“Small little play in the Golden Eagle if she goes that way, she may go to The Everest but the Golden Eagle at 1500m suits her.”
Stefi Magnetica is rated a $26 chance in both The Everest and the Golden Eagle.
