Trainer Joe Pride has rated his stable’s best winning chance for the weekend.
The multiple Group 1 winning horseman has a number of runners competing across the country this Saturday but he heads to Flemington with the most confidence.
Pride says The Black Cloud is his best bet in the VRC Country Rae Day Sprint as the Proven Thoroughbred-owned filly looks to continue her impressive start to her career having won three from five.
“She didn’t really enjoy the heavy conditions the other day but she’s a very fast filly,” Pride told SENTrack’s Giddy Up.
“I never quite know what’s a good or what’s bad draw down the Flemington straight but I would imagine with the rail out a long way they’ll race as one and she’ll either go to the front or be prominent as she’s very fast and I can only imagine this suiting her.
“She’s a very uncomplicated horse, she’s very honest, genuine and fast with a bit of quality about her.
“She’s 100 per cent in there for effort every time and I would think without knowing the Melbourne form too well that she should be able to beat these horses if she brings her form.”
Gareth Hall agrees with Pride’s sentiment, saying The Black Cloud is definitely the one to beat in the feature sprint on Saturday.
“This is a filly that is going places,” Hall added.
“She ran into a pretty good one the other day in Fleetwood but she looks a filly on the rise.
“I think she is definitely the one to beat and that draw is perfect with the rail out that far.”
Jay Ford will ride on the weekend where she’s the current $2.80 favourite.
