Slideshow: Exploring Dementia Risk, Hot Flashes, Oral Health in Postmenopausal Women

Must read

Menopause is characterized by a decline in ovarian function. Estrogen and progesterone, key players in regulating the menstrual cycle, decrease significantly; as a result, the menstrual cycle ceases altogether. This hormonal balance ushers in a wave of symptoms, such as hot flashes, sleep disturbances, and mood swings. It also raises the risk for more serious health concerns, including bone loss and certain cancers.

Four posters presented at the Endocrine Society’s 2024 annual meeting, held June 1 to 4 in Boston, Massachusetts, explored the interplay of hormones and other factors in women during and after menopause. Findings offer critical insights into preventive measures and early detection for various health risks women might face as they age.
