The powerful Snowden stable is set to be a major player at Muswellbrook on Sunday with two runners in the opening two races out to make a winning impact.
In what is a day sponsored by the Snowden family, the Greg Cribb Memorial Red Crown 2YO Handicap (900m) is an event named in honour of the brother of Lyn Snowden, wife of Peter Snowden.
“It’s a day that is pretty special to us and we like to send a couple of good chances there for it,” Peter Snowden said.
The lightly raced Vinniro will represent the Snowden stable in the Greg Cribb Memorial, and Peter Snowden expects him to return to racing in winning form.
“He’s a horse that took on much better grade horses in his two starts late last year,” Snowden said, citing form behind the likes of Spywire and Storm Boy.
“He was out of the placings in both runs behind those horses, but they were the top-grade horses he was taking on back then. He’s been gelded since then and returns from a spell on Sunday. Reece Jones will take the ride and from the good barrier I’d be disappointed if he wasn’t right in the finish.”
Vinniro has had two trials in preparation for his return to racing for a second in a heat at Randwick before scoring in the latest hitout, which was also at Randwick.
“He’s been doing well since he’s come back in and it does look to be a nice race for him at Muswellbrook,” said Snowden.
Snowden and Jones will also combine when Without resumes from a spell in the F.A.S.T. Fire Protection 3YO & Up Maiden Plate (900m).
