‘So annoyed’: Netflix to vanish from several TV models in days

Must read

Netflix subscribers with some Sony television models and Apple TV devices have only a matter of days before the streaming service vanishes from their screens.

Netflix has boasted a $2.3 billion profit since introducing their one household policy.

The on-demand streaming service introduced the policy last year to prevent users stretching account access across a number of households, and from sharing with friends and family not paying for their own accounts.

“March 2023, they had 233 million subscribers around the world,” Mr Greenwood said.

“Now they have a whole bunch more.

“The profit of Netflix has jumped by 89 per cent to 2.3 billion dollars off the back of this.

“The suggestion that Netflix was never, ever going to make a dollar off of this; well that has gone in the shade, they are right now making plenty of money.”

Sony in May announced the app will be axed from 37 Sony BRAVIA television models in the Asia Pacific region, including Australia, from next week.

“The Netflix app will no longer be supported on certain 2014 BRAVIA televisions from July 24, 2024,” the corporation said in a statement.

“You can continue to use the Netflix app on your TV until 23 July 2024.”

However, people with affected TV models can still enjoy the streaming service by using a supported TV streaming device such as Google Chromecast or Amazon Fire TV Stick.

While Sony TV models are mostly affected, some Apple TV models will also be impacted too.

Some models of Apple TV streaming devices will next month no longer be able to stream Netflix.

The app will not work on Apple TV second and third generation devices from July 31.

Outraged Netflix subscribers have voice their frustration on X over a recent message on their TV notifying them of the impending change to the popular streaming app.

“So annoyed! On screen message from @NetflixUK this evening to say the app won’t work after 24th July on my perfectly functional Sony TV. It’s even got a Netflix button on the remote!,” one person said.

Affected customers have been advised to contact Netflix for more information.
