‘Sounds bloody awful’: Meghan’s new Netflix venture savaged by TV host

Meghan Markle’s new Netflix program has been savaged by a TV host on air as “bloody awful”, while a royal expert details why it is “crucial” the Sussexes’ incoming projects are a hit.

Sky News host Rita Panahi has weighed in on Meghan Markle’s latest filming project with Netflix.

It comes as the Duchess of Sussex has just wrapped up filming her new cooking and home show for the streaming platform.

The show, which is yet to receive a title or air date, is part of the Sussexes’ $100 Million Netflix deal and was filmed at a property near their Montecito mansion in Los Angeles.

The upcoming show will apparently ‘celebrate the joys of cooking, gardening, entertaining, and friendship’.

Ms Panahi claimed that Ms Markle’s upcoming show sounded “bloody awful”.

Meghan has reportedly wrapped up filming her unreleased Netflix project, which is part of a $100 million deal between the streaming service and the Sussexes to deliver two new programs.

Although the finer details of the former actress’ show have not been revealed, it is understood the lifestyle program will focus on cooking, gardening and entertaining.

Sky News Australia host Rita Panahi claimed Meghan’s new Netflix venture “sounds bloody awful” as she discussed the project with a royal expert on Thursday night.

“I can’t see the polo program working out,” Panahi said.

“One thing that has worked was awful it was a reality series, it wasn’t a documentary, but it was a boring reality series.

“It was like a poor man’s Keeping Up With The Kardashians. I had to watch that, I had to take one for the team, and I don’t want to do it ever again.”

Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield agreed, arguing it was integral the couple’s shows performed well following the ratings of their previous Netflix projects.

“This is crucial that this is a success… because as you know Harry and Meghan’s only commercial hit so far has been their Harry and Meghan docuseries which was basically was just, you know, hours and hours of them ripping into he British royal family,” she told Panahi.

“They’ve released Live to Lead which was an absolute flop. Next up Heart of Invictus, no one tuned in.

“So it’s very, very important that Meghan’s show or Harry’s polo program sees some similar numbers to the Harry and Meghan docuseries or they risk losing that Netflix gig.”

The couple’s first docuseries Harry & Meghan aired on Netflix in 2022, which saw them open up about their early dating days and explosive departure from the royal family.

Prince Harry and Meghan have been living in Montecito, California, since 2020 after they stepped back as working royals earlier that same year.

Schofield recently speculated on her podcast that Prince Harry could be up for writing another book about the royal family following his bombshell memoir Spare.

However, the commentator thought the Duke would likely wait until King Charles passes away and Prince William ascends to the throne.
