Prince Harry is said to be “very content” with his life in California after he and wife Meghan Markle stepped back from royal duties in the United Kingdom for a more private life four years ago.
Speaking on the Kinsey Schofield Unfiltered podcast, royal correspondent Katie Nicholl revealed a source has told her the Sussexes are “tight as a family unit”.
She further added Prince Harry himself is “really happy”.
“Harry’s living a wonderful life and a life he’s always wanted to live,” she said.
“And I thought that’s really wonderful to hear – I’m really pleased to hear that.”
Her comments come after the Duke opted to skip the wedding of close friend Hugh Grosvenor and Olivia Henson in Cheshire, England, on Saturday with Harry’s brother William serving as an usher for the event.
The Duke of Sussex reportedly declined as he would have found it “difficult” to attend, according to People magazine.
Royal expert Richard Eden speculated tensions with his brother could be to blame for his absence.
Ms Nicholl said major occasions like his friend’s wedding would be hard for the Duke of Sussex to miss.
“I’m sure there must be moments like this when he would have just got on a plane, with or without Meghan, and come over for a big society wedding like this, if he and his brother were actually on talking terms,” she said.
The Sussexes also skipped out on the wedding of Harry’s close friend Jack Mann to osteopath Isabella Clark in Suffolk in July last year.
It follows royal author Tom Quinn’s claim that as time goes by, Harry “misses some aspects” of his old life in the UK.
“Inevitably, the honeymoon period where everything in the States is new and exciting is coming to an end and Harry is looking back at the past through rose-tinted spectacles,” he told the Mirror newspaper.
Mr Quinn revealed the pair are looking for a new residence in the UK to enable Harry to reconnect with his “old life” after they were evicted from Frogmore Cottage by King Charles in March last year.
The Sussexes were snubbed from the annual Trooping the Colour event this month which features an appearance from the royal family on the Buckingham Palace balcony.
It marks the second year in a row Harry and Meghan were not invited to join the rest of the family amid an ongoing feud sparked when they stepped back from royal duties in 2020.
