The South Asian Basketball Association (SABA) Qualifiers for the FIBA U18 Asia Cup 2024 will be held from July 10 to 13 at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo.
Like in previous years, this year too will see reduced participation, with only four countries – hosts Sri Lanka, defending champions India, Bangladesh and Maldives – in the fray.
The Qualifiers will be held in a single round robin format, followed by the finals on July 13.
Like in previous years, banking on their superior size, India will be overwhelming favourites to punch its tickets to Amman, Jordan for the junior continental championship from September 2 to 9.
India will do well to watch out for Sri Lanka – which gave the Young Cagers a mighty scare in the last year’s U16 division, losing by just seven points, 55-62.
