COLUMBIA — Sakima Walker is back for one more year.

Walker announced on Tuesday that she will return for her fifth year of eligibility with South Carolina women’s basketball.

She posted a highlight video on X, formerly known as Twitter, and wrote “one more year.”

Walker, a 6-foot-5 center from Columbus, Ohio, began her career at Rutgers, where she played for two seasons before transferring to Northwest Florida State, where she was on the 2023 junior college national championship team.

For South Carolina last season, Walker played in 31 games, starting one, and averaged two points and 1.3 rebounds. Walker did not play in the championship game against Iowa.

Walker was a senior this past season, alongside Kamilla Cardoso and Te-Hina Paopao. Paopao announced she was returning for her fifth year as well. Cardoso declared for the WNBA draft and now plays for the Chicago Sky.

The Gamecocks just secured 6-4 Arkansas transfer Maryam Dauda, who will play in the frontcourt with Walker, Ashlyn Watkins, Chloe Kitts, Joyce Edwards, Sania Feagin and Adhel Tac.
