In April, the Department of Higher Education outlined the 350 in-demand jobs in the country. With employment a serious issue locally, knowing what the in-demand jobs are can prove crucial for those currently studying at a tertiary institution or preparing to do so.
That, however, is only one part of the equation, which is why the Independent Institute of Education (IIE) highlighted the qualifications that would be needed for those in-demand jobs too.
“Prospective students are often advised to consider the current job landscape and projections for the future before deciding on what career to pursue and what they need to study after school. These projections can however be a tricky call, which is why guidance in this regard is crucial,” noted Peter Kriel, general manager at the IIE.
