US comedian and sitcom star Jerry Seinfeld was happy to see fans as he ventured out and into the CBD on Saturday.
After a show in Singapore on Friday night, he touched down in Perth in the early hours of Saturday morning for the first stop of the Australian leg of his latest tour.
Flanked by at least two minders, Seinfeld stopped to wave and greet fans outside his hotel.
He strolled through the main shopping streets and malls in his signature style — white sneakers and a baseball cap — stopping at several shops including popular independent bookseller Boffins Books.
The namesake star of the cult classic sitcom, Seinfeld’s comedy career took off in the early 1980s after appearing on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.
Years later he teamed up with fellow comedian Larry David to create what is now known as the most successful comedy series in TV history: Seinfeld.
The show ran on NBC for nine seasons, with Seinfeld starring alongside Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Elaine Benes), Jason Alexander (George Costanza) and Michael Richards (Kramer).
It won numerous Emmy, Golden Globe and People’s Choice awards, and cemented itself firmly into pop culture as “the show about nothing”.
Seinfeld’s Saturday night show at RAC Arena is the first of seven performances in Australia slated for Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Melbourne.
