St Kilda has confirmed that Max King will be sidelined for the rest of the 2024 season.
The Saints forward sustained a tear in the Posterior Cruciate Ligament (PCL) in his left knee during Sunday’s narrow loss to Port Adelaide. The injury occurred just after half-time but King remained on the field to play out the game.
“This is a very disappointing outcome for Max,” the club’s EGM of Football David Misson told saints.com.au.
“It’s a credit to Max’s commitment to his teammates that he played out the game on Sunday, but for his long-term future and health, it’s important we now give his knee some time to rest and recover.
“While this will see Max miss the rest of the season, pleasingly he doesn’t require surgery, and this course of action will place him in the best possible position to attack pre-season.”
King dealt with a left knee injury earlier in the season, however, this is not believed to be linked to that initial issue.
The 23-year-old has played 12 games and kicked 19 goals in 2024.
