Footage of musician David Foster labelling his American Idol star wife, Katharine McPhee, as “fat” has resurfaced online, after it was posted online earlier this year.
The pair were performing in concert together when Foster, 74, shocked the audience by calling McPhee, 40, “fat” while she was a contestant on American Idol back in 2006.
“You may not know we met 17, almost 18 years ago when I was a little chubby and cheerful contestant on American Idol,” McPhee said on a stage during the performance.

A photo of the singer competing on season 5 of American Idol popped up on a screen behind them.
“Oh, yeah, you were fat,” Foster, who was serving as a mentor on the show when he met McPhee, said.
McPhee attempted to brush off the comments, saying “I was a little chubby, OK? I was just young”.
The interaction shocked the internet after the video surfaced online, especially given Mcphee had previously been open about her struggles with eating disorders.
“I wonder what he says and how he treats her in private if he can be so bold and disrespectful in public,” one person said.
“He’s revolting,” said another.
“Well that was totally ignorant, (what a) Shallow little man,” said a third.
Foster had previously come under fire after unproven reports he left ex-wife Yolanda Hadid when she began fighting a debilitating illness.
McPhee became Fosters fifth wife when they married in June 2019.
The couple welcomed their 3-year-old son in February 2021.
