‘Struggled’: Worrying new claim about Kate’s cancer treatment

Must read

The Princess of Wales endured a tough period during the initial stage of her preventative cancer treatment, a royal expert has claimed, with the senior royal having to start a course of chemotherapy off the back of major surgery.

Princess Catherine broke her silence in a heartfelt letter to the Irish Guards ahead of the annual Trooping the Colours.

The Princess of Wales who serves as the honorary Colonel of the Irish Guards wrote to the Irish Guards apologising for missing the final rehearsal of the annual Trooping the Colour event.

News Corp columnist Louise Roberts joined Sky News host Caroline Di Russo to discuss the latest on the Royal Family.

The Princess of Wales announced in March she had begun a course of preventative chemotherapy after tests conducted following an earlier surgical procedure found cancer had been present.

The 42-year-old has since been off official royal duties and absent from several high-profile events including ceremonies to mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day.

She is also not expected to attend this year’s Trooping the Colour.

While sporadic updates on the senior royal’s health have been shared by her husband Prince William, who recently said only that she is doing “better,” information on the mother of three has been scarce.

Vanity Fair’s royal correspondent Katie Nicholl said she is relieved to hear from “more than one source” the Princess has recently turned a corner.

However, it appears her health journey has been far from smooth.

“I’ve been told by sources very close to the Princess of Wales that she had struggled with the treatment initially,” Ms Nicholl told The Sun’s Royal Exclusive Show.

Princess Kate has written to the Irish Guard, informing them she will not be able to attend ‘Trooping the Colour’ as she normally does due to her cancer diagnosis, says News Corp columnist Louise Roberts.

“Of course, they have been absolutely delighted and they have shared her words publicly as a mark of respect for a woman who with so much else going on in her life took the opportunity to actually write to these men and say ‘I’m sorry, I can’t be there’,” she told Sky News host Caroline Di Russo.

“She’s typical Catherine – fabulous.”

“It’s preventative chemotherapy, it’s not a pleasant thing.

“No one wants to have to have this, you know, off the back of major surgery, a pretty long recovery period, and then she has to go through the treatment.

“I think it was a struggle initially and I was very, very relieved to hear from actually more than one source that she has recently turned a corner.”

The royal author also pushed back on claims the Princess of Wales would not return to royal duties in the same capacity as before, or perhaps ever.

“I really think this is not the case,” she told The Sun’s Royal Editor Matt Wilkinson.

“Everything I hear is that she will be back to work. She’s coming back 100 per cent to pick up as Princess of Wales and do the great work she was doing before.”

“It will just be in her time and she’s ready and crucially when she gets the sign off from her medical team.”

The Princess described past months as “incredibly tough” for her family in an emotional video published to social media in March.

“It has taken us time to explain anything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them and to reassure them that I am going to be okay,” she said.

“As I have said to them, I am well and getting stronger everyday by focusing on the things that will help me heal in my mind, body and spirits.”
