Sunshine Coast Racing Tips: Saturday, July 6th 2024
Race 5: Kevlacat Power Boats Open Plate 1000m – 2:47pm (AEST)
(7) Hardware Lane $6.50/$2.20: nice each-way play in a tricky race. He has form around key rivals GOLDEN BOOM, RUBIQUITOUS, and SITUATION ROOM this preparation and is an absolute swimmer. If we go back three runs he raced over the same track/trip as today on a Heavy10 and bolted in (beat SITUATION ROOM by 1.8L but meets him 2kgs worse at the weights). They went to 1110m two-back and he sat up on a good speed with GOLDEN BOOM pressuring him throughout before he got tired late (worked too hard / 1110m a bit too far?). He went back to 1000m LS and was a total forgive after pulling up with respiratory issues. He draws out on what will likely be a very heavy track which are both big ticks in his favour. I think he can camp in behind the leaders and have last crack at them with BRUDENELL his main danger. Can improve.
(1) Brudnell $3.40: Resuming 4YO who has an impressive 50% strike rate from 18 attempts. Proven first up and on the heavy track. Comes into this off two nice trials and should be pinging to the front with his early speed. No early market support though is the only worry.
(2) Golden Boom $2.70: 4YO who has been crunched early and is in terrific form thus far. Draws well and unbeaten on weather effected tracks. Another leader who will need to be run down.
Race 6: Double R Group Winx Guineas 1600m – 3:23pm (AEST)
(9) Miss Aria $8.50/$2.30: a cracking edition of the Brisbane Cup and this guy looks the best bet of the day! It was a very tough watch second-up in the Roy Higgins over 2600m when he was badly held-up from the 500m-300m mark before getting out and hitting the line hard to finish third behind MARK TWAIN who produced a slashing finale to win (arguably should’ve won). He then went to the Sydney Cup and was forced to race wide throughout off a hot speed (some 17L above average to the 600m) yet he was still the third fastest home over the final 200m (brave / ties in with AMADE and SELINO). He dropped back to 2800m LS in the Andrew Ramsden and was unlucky again after being held-up at a key stage to finish second behind THE MAP (arguably should’ve won / best L200m split of the race / was very good). He draws a beautiful gate for Blake Shinn today, meets AMADE better at the weights after beating him home in the Sydney Cup, will likely have a head start on key rivals in running, and his best form is on good ground which he’ll get See today. Hard to beat.
(5) Know Thyself $2.25: 3YO who has shown early signs that he is going to be a very talented horse. Today will be the day we find out whether he is going to be that talent as he takes on much tougher opponents. Must be respected though of previous wins.
(2) Xidaki $3.90: 3YO who appears as though he needs the mile which he gets now. Jimmy Orman in the saddle and gets a nice draw. One of the main dangers.
Race 8: Wishlist Caloundra Cup 2400m 4:45pm (AEST)
(8) Dune Forty Five $15.00/$3.90: Tipped this fella last start in the Ipswich Cup and he was crunched, but held up at a crucial stage. Still finished 4th there and must be considered again here. Nice draw and rock hard fit. Happy to have a small play.
(2) Hezashocka $4.50: 6YO who had been racing well before his disappointing last outing. Can bounce back here.
(1) Alegron $9.00/$2.80: Last start winner by 1.5L and appears to have now hit top gear. Dropping back In distance now though, but worthy of an each way play.
