A Sydney light rail service is down due to a fallen overhead wire, which has sparked major delays and disruptions.
The Transport Management Centre said trams on the L3 Kingsford Line have stopped running between Moore Park and Juniors Kingsford due to a collapsed wire on Anzac Parade in Kensington.
Routes on all tram lines are being affected by delays.
Anzac Parade’s southbound lane is shut between Todman and Doncaster Avenue with motorists and buses being diverted away.
While authorities work to clear the hazard, traffic is building up around the area.
Sydneysiders are advised to use alternative transport and allow extra travel time.
“Motorists should exercise caution and follow the directions of emergency services and traffic crews on site,” the Transport Management Centre said.
The delays come ahead of a planned strike among light rail workers on Wednesday, which is expected to cause more headaches for commuters.
No trams on the L1, L2 and L3 line will run between 8am to 10am and 4pm to 6pm on Wednesday.
