“Officers attached to Camden Police Area Command were told a man, aged 30, had used his phone to make recordings of students,” NSW Police said in a statement on Tuesday.

The girl who witnessed the alleged incident told another teacher, who told the school’s principal. Police were called, and Meogrossi was taken to Narellan police station where he was charged with one count of film a person’s private parts without consent, one aggravated count of film a person’s private parts without consent and producing child abuse material.

“Inquiries are ongoing,” police said.

Meogrossi was refused bail to appear in Campbelltown Local Court on Tuesday, where he did not apply for bail before Magistrate Chris McRobert.

Meogrossi will return to the same court next week.

The Department of Education said it is working closely with police and Meogrossi had been removed from teaching duties.
