EBEN ZAABEEL (6.05 Newbury, nap)

Charlie Hills has been patient with this well-bred son of Sea The Stars. We saw him just once last season with a quiet debut at Newmarket before two extremely green efforts this term at Yarmouth and Chester. Moving up to this distance brought plenty of improvement at Salisbury when less than two lengths off the pace despite trouble in running. He was always a handicapper in the making and the assessor has been more than fair with an opening mark of 79. It will be disappointing if he’s not a good way ahead of that by the end of the campaign. He’s one of my 12 to follow and can hopefully show why.

GIORGIO M (2.47 Beverley, nb)

He is best over this trip so he did well to go so close at Newmarket last time. He was tackling six furlongs there and still put in an excellent effort to finish second. Rising star of the weighing room Billy Loughnane stays on board and this looks a much easier assignment from only 1lb higher in the weights.

KING OF WAR (6.20 Brighton, treble)

He has been knocking on the door and this looks a cracking chance. He went down in a tight finish at Chepstow last time on the back of a runner-up effort here. He could be drawn better but has enough going for him to figure again.

WARRENDALE WAGYU (1.47 Beverley, Lucky 15)

He made his handicap debut a winning one at Doncaster last week. The winning margin was only a length but it could have been plenty more. He looks hard to beat under a penalty.
