Tennis Star Serena Williams’s Former L.A. Home Lists For $13.5 Million

Must read

Retired tennis player Serena Williams is one of the most decorated female tennis players in the world with a total of 23-time Grand Slam wins and the only player in the sport’s history to achieve a Career Grand Slam in both singles and doubles.

Though she retired from the court in 2022, Williams has left an indelible legacy on the sport and culture. Now, if you want to live at the property she called home during the height of her career, you can purchase her former digs for a cool $13.5 million. Williams lived in this sprawling Colonial Mediterranean-style Bel-Air manse from 2006 to 2019, when she skyrocketed to fame. In late 2020, the property sold to interior designer Rodrigo Vargas and his partner, Frederick Storey, for just under $8 million—$4 million under the $12 million asking price. There was one owner between Williams and Storey.

Located on the prestigious Stone Canyon Road in Los Angeles’s tony Bel-Air neighborhood, this gated property spans 6,101 square feet and has six bedrooms, six bathrooms, and one powder room. The home was originally built in 1935 but has been lovingly restored and renovated over the years with a timeless and elegant interior design. The light-filled home has a neutral color palette, exemplary craftsmanship, and a sumptuous design. Both classic yet contemporary, the home has soaring ceilings, oversized windows, and moments of serene relaxation.

The airy living room features a wall of dramatic windows along the room’s semi-circular shape. You’re never too far from nature, as several rooms feature clear glass French doors that open to the yard. There are also several skylights that further flood the home with light. The home’s stark-white kitchen is like something out of a storybook, with limestone countertops, custom cabinetry, and a large center island. There’s also a tranquil formal dining room overlooking the yard, a wood-paneled library with a bar, and a breakfast nook lined with windows.

Upstairs, the elegant primary suite has hand-printed wallpaper, a fireplace, and a Juliet balcony, as well as an elegant walk-in closet and a spa-like bathroom with a clawfoot soaking tub, steam shower, and double vanities. There are five additional resort-like bedrooms for those with a large family or those who love to entertain out-of-town guests. While there’s no tennis court, the backyard feels like a veritable oasis with a black-bottom pool, spa, sun deck, pergola walkway, and an open-air cabana. The landscaping that surrounds the home is pristine and brimming with lush flowers, towering trees, and a series of unique water features. There’s also an attached three-car garage and a total of nine parking spaces at the home.

While the home feels world’s away, it’s just a few minutes from the posh Hotel Bel-Air and near other upscale neighborhood amenities. Bel-Air is known as one of the wealthiest and most exclusive neighborhoods in Los Angeles, and Stone Canyon Road has been the address to many A-list celebrities over the years.

The property is listed with Louis DeLaura and Ernie Stone of Sotheby’s International Realty – Beverly Hills Brokerage.
