Wimbledon 2024 – Carlos Alcaraz earns the chance to defend his SW19 crown

From the start, it never seemed in doubt that Alcaraz would be back on Centre Court for a second straight Wimbledon final.

The Spaniard has battled his way through to the final showpiece, defeating Frances Tiafoe, Ugo Humbert and Tommy Paul on road to the final four. In the semi-final Alcaraz met a defiant Daniil Medvedev who took the first set, but that ignited the spark in ‘Carlitos’ as he roared back to stamp his ticket to the final.

Alcaraz could now become the first Spaniard to claim back-to-back Wimbledon titles, something not even Rafael Nadal could do. He is on the verge of a fourth Grand slam title before the age of 22.

Another Wimbledon crown would fill Alcaraz with confidence ahead of his maiden Olympic campaign, as he heads to Paris 2024 to compete in the men’s singles and the men’s doubles with Nadal.
