A man shared his confusion online after an awkward text exchange with his long distance girlfriend of 19 months left him not knowing what to think.
The baffled boyfriend, who has been a vegetarian for over half of his life, was left shaking his head after his carnivore girlfriend complained that ‘they can’t even go to steakhouses together on occasions’.
Posting on Reddit, the young man said he was more than willing to go to any steakhouse and reassured her that he ‘didn’t mind’ because ‘if the steaks are good their side dishes will be good as well’.
The girlfriend was not so easily swayed and reiterated her concern that they wouldn’t be able ‘to share anything’. The man was more than willing to split the sides, but that still wasn’t good enough to convince his partner that they should stay together.
Meat is her ‘love language’ and the thought of not sharing it ‘makes me sick’.
1,500 people on reddit were quick to comment with one calling this the ‘most annoying conversation ever. No matter what you say, it’s an issue, even if it doesn’t have to be’.
Others agree that the whole exchange was ‘dumb’ and ‘stupid’.
Another was laughing and saying he only needed to read three slides to figure out that she ‘was just looking’ for a way to end the relationship.
Others called the girlfriend ‘ridiculously self centered’, ‘beyond childish’ and even ‘irrational’.
The redditor suspected that the girlfriend was going to such painful lengths to state her case so that she could ditch her man without being made to ‘look like the bad guy’.
A few people remarked that they were unable to get through the whole exchange and gave up after a few pages as it was just too ‘insufferable’.
Another said that although he ‘likes a good steak’ and can understand the desire to share one with someone you love, he thought this ‘selfish’ girl was ‘just looking for a reason to break up with you’.

Others urged the boyfriend not to abandon his ‘values and morals’ of 8 years for a girl who knew he was a vegetarian when she started dating him.
Given that the boyfriend had gone to such lengths to be accommodating to his steak-hungry partner, the consensus seemed to be there is ‘nothing you can do or say dude, she’s out’.
Someone else couldn’t understand how the issue about sharing food even arose in the first place when the couple were already in a long distance relationship and presumably didn’t eat together often enough for the incompatibility to arise.
