Its design may have been inspired by a wedge of Camembert, but there is absolutely nothing cheesy about this breathtaking City Beach abode.

Every part of the triangular block was used by renowned architect Adrian Iredale to ensure the home was not only visually stunning, but functional in every way possible.

“He called it the cheese house,” the owner said. “And how he designed it is he got a piece of Camembert cheese and he carved the design of the house in the piece of cheese. Instead of just plonking a rectangle house in the middle of the block, he used every space available for living without it being high maintenance.

The result is a north-facing home that seamlessly integrates inside and outside living.

“The back living room opens out to the garden and the pool with the bi-fold doors and, because it’s north facing and the way the architect designed the house, you’re protected from the sea breeze, so any even on a stormy day you can have the windows open.”

A central atrium with a bridge separates the kids’ wing on the west side of the house, while the parents can enjoy peace and quiet on the east side.

While modern homes can sometimes lack character, and older homes can often lack modern conveniences, this Kensington abode offers both in spades.

Like many buyers, the owners were looking for character when house hunting in the leafy near-city suburb, but they also didn’t want to compromise on modern conveniences.

“We were looking for the quintessential Kensington cottage that we could leave our own stamp on, and instantly fell in love with this home,” one of the owners said.

“Maintaining the character while restoring and extending the home was our No.1 priority. The renovation has exceeded all our expectations and delivers a perfect mix of traditional Kensington charm, combined with all the modern conveniences a growing family needs.”

An added bonus is the home also includes a big yard for the kids to play and enough space for a pool.

It’s not surprising that villas have emerged as a top performer in the unit market when you consider all their perks.

They enable buyers to purchase in a desirable suburb at a much lower price point than houses, while still giving them a patch of land to call their own.

This newly-built Innaloo villa is about 10km from the city centre, less than 5km from Scarborough Beach and on the doorstep of major shopping centres, cafes and eateries.

The interiors have been stylishly appointed and give the look and feel of a spacious home.

“The site was acquired due to the quality nature of the suburb, street and surrounding properties along with the elevation of the site allowing for a unique design,” the developer said.

“As with all of Nu-Style Living builds, getting the floor plans right is pivotal. This, along with the long list of quality inclusions and attention to detail throughout the entire build process, ensures the incoming owner will have a fantastic home and investment for years to come.”
