‘The Last Of Us Part 2’ PC Steam Release Leaked Online, With One Surprising Detail

Must read

I have deeply conflicted feelings about Naughty Dog’s The Last Of Us Part II, a game that is equal parts masterpiece and crushing disappointment; a game of intense beauty and even more intense ugliness. A game, as its creative director Neil Druckmann once said, “about hate.” (My review).

Still, as with all of Sony’s PC ports, I’m eager to play the game again—and take another swing at it—when it comes to Steam.

Now, according to the always-reliable leaker (often of PS Plus lineups) Billbil-kun of Dealabs, the PC version of the game is basically already finished. That’s quite surprising, actually, given we’ve heard next to nothing about the game coming to Steam.

The wrinkle is that Sony is possibly keeping it off the market in order to release it closer to the release of HBO’s The Last Of Us Season 2, given the PC port may have been mostly finished as early as November 2023. That’s speculation, but it does make sense. The Pedro Pascal / Bella Ramsey-led TV series won’t come out until 2025, so we’ve got some time to wait for both that and a possible PC release of The Last Of Us Part II.

The Last Of Us Part II Remastered released a few months ago to mixed reactions. The game has some cool new features, but isn’t nearly the same degree of graphical overhaul as The Last Of Us Part I remake.

As for the show, it’s quite good—not as good as Fallout or Arcane, but still great in its own right. The casting of Kaitlyn Dever as Abby is the most interesting thing we’ve learned about the show, mostly because she looks so much like Ellie from the games!
