While Wimbledon continues on for it’s second week, many are waiting eagerly to see if Catherine, the Princess of Wales will be making her usual appearance at the tennis tournament.
Many royal fans are hoping that the royal, who has been largely absent from the public eye for eight months now, will be making an appearance at the finals this weekend to award winners with their trophies.
Royal editor Russell Myers believes that her appearance is still “50-50 at the moment because of course, the Princess of Wales has been going through her cancer treatment over the last few months,” he told Today Extra.

“It’s been a pretty testing time, not only just for her, but the King is still undergoing his treatment as well,” he added.
In the meantime, he adds that ”Wimbledon chiefs are saying they are keeping all their options open. They’re still very, very hopeful that Kate will be able to make it for the finals over the weekend.”
Catherine is very fond of the tennis on a personal level, with Myers pointing out, “she said herself in her statement just a few weeks ago that it’s really good for her to be keeping her hand in normal life, enjoying the things that she loves. And we know she loves a day out at the tennis. So fingers crossed and we’ll see her there.”

Wimbledon’s organisers are still holding out hope that that royal can manage to bestow the honour.
All England Club chair Debbie Jevans shared that the organisation would provide flexibility to the royal, who has been the patron of the All England Club for eight years, with the royal having presented the trophies at the tennis tournament finals since 2016.
Jevans told Telegraph Sport, “We’re hopeful that the Princess of Wales will be able to present the trophies as the Club’s patron, but her health and recovery is the priority.”
