Aussies travelling to Europe this year are purchasing a practical pair of $130 sandals – but not everyone is onboard with the style.
Alivia, founder of body jewellery brand BODYD, was curious to find out more about Tevas after seeing others boast about the shoes on TikTok.
Many have claimed the shoes ‘saved their feet’ while travelling and clocking up 25,000 steps per day. But others swore to never be caught dead wearing such an ‘ugly’ shoe.
Alivia, 27, went to her local Kathmandu to try on a pair herself and shared a now-viral TikTok video.
‘Everyone is going crazy for these shoes for Euro summer. I am going to go try them on and see if they’re worth the hype,’ she said in the clip.
In the video Alivia shows the different shoes available and tried on a black pair.
Skeptical and hesitant at first due to the style, she said: ‘At this point I was definitely questioning why I was trying these on.’
But after walking around the store she quickly realised just how comfortable the Tevas really are and she felt confident they could be worn all day while travelling.
‘These are a ten out of ten. I’ve never felt anything so comfy and I kind of thought they were cute at the end,’ Alivia said.
The video has since caught the attention of the masses and been viewed more than 124,000 times – but many disapproved of the style.

One person who disapproved of the Tevas said: ‘Who the hell are going crazy over these?’
‘Wow these make Crocs look nice? Seriously the world’s gone mad,’ another said.
‘These made me feel all sorts of ways.. none of which are good,’ someone else added.
But others were onboard with the brand and many recommended the buy.
‘Tevas are awesome,’ one declared.
‘I took the Tevas to Europe last summer and they saved me when swimming at the rocky beaches,’ another added.
Another gave an alternative recommendation: ‘I’ve been wearing my Birkenstocks for my Euro summers and they are the best! Super light and comfortable.’
