Thieves have stolen a large quantity of jewellery from stores after ramming through the doors of a shopping centre north of Brisbane overnight. It’s believed stolen vehicles may have been used.
The front doors of Morayfield Shopping Centre were rammed by a black Mercedes Benz about 3am Thursday before a large quantity of jewellery was allegedly stolen from a number of stores.
Once entry was gained a blue Haval vehicle was driven a distance into the centre.
The offenders used implements to smash their way into two jewellery stores causing extensive damage.
Police are presently working with shop owners to establish if any property was stolen.
Anyone who may have witnessed the break in or has dashcam in the area around the time of the incident is urged to come forward.
Morayfield Shopping Centre addressed the incident on social media on Thursday morning.
“Due to the unfortunate incident overnight, Michael Hill will be closed today and will reopen as soon as possible,” the shopping centre wrote.
“Angus and Coote is endeavouring to open today.
“We are also working to restore the western entry.
“All other stores are open and trading as usual. Thank you for your patience.”
