New Zealand marketing powerhouses Wendy Thompson and Melanie Spencer, co-founders of Thompson Spencer,  are further strengthening their international presence – this time in a tangible sense with a Thompson Spencer office now open in London.

A growing global client list and a community management team engaged in conversations around the world saw the prospect of putting down roots outside of Aotearoa climb up Thompson Spencer’s to-do list. Thompson Spencer has ideated and managed campaigns in 69 countries across the globe, with particularly robust skills shining through in the FMCG, big-box retail, and property sectors. Known for their ability to turn things around on a dime (who are we kidding, they thrive on it!), when an opportunity arose to fast-track the plan with London as the first international location, Thompson and Spencer pounced.

Says Spencer, group CEO and co-founder, Thompson Spencer: “We’ve always known that marketing – particularly on social – never sleeps, which is why we have long had social media campaigns and community managers rostered 24-hours a day to cover all time zones, gathering insights and growing brands around the world.

“Having a strong strategic and account management presence on the ground in the UK just made sense to us – it means we’re physically there for our clients around the clock, ensuring enhanced communication and action. I’m now sounding the klaxon for Kiwi and Aussie brands who are wanting to launch in the Northern hemisphere – we are right there as your strategic running mate and brains trust.”

The agency’s UK business director, Chandni Patel, has hit the ground running after quickly acclimatising to her London locale after four years in the Auckland office.

Thompson Spencer’s impressive stable of expert offerings here in NZ – Socialites, Magnesium, Thompson Spencer Media, The Social Club, Flying Tiger, and People of Influence – will work seamlessly alongside the London strategy and account management team, delivering exceptional creative and service.

Having enjoyed a successful relationship from New Zealand with the renowned Seagrass Group for some time, Thompson Spencer is proud that the group’s London restaurant, Meat & Wine Co, will be a foundation client for the new office. Also on the Northern Hemisphere front, Thompson Spencer works on social media and community management for Airbus, in partnership with Parisian agency, Angie. With boots on the ground, Thompson Spencer is able to work closer to Airbus and Angie’s HeadQuarters and provide an even faster world-class offering to the international juggernaut.

Says Thompson: “We were already enormously excited by the future that lies ahead for Thompson Spencer, even more so now that we’re fully operational and meeting with new clients in the UK, as well as seeing the potential for our NZ and Australian clients to break new ground further afield. We can’t wait to make even more extraordinary things happen in the Northern Hemisphere and show off our antipodean spark.”

The opening of the London office marks a significant milestone in Thompson Spencer’s global expansion. The agency is now (even more) perfectly positioned to help brands commence or expand their global presence.
