Three people are dead after a truck and a car collided in Queensland’s South Burnett region.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of the D’Aguilar Highway and Nanango-Tarong Road at Nanango at about 5.50am on Thursday.

Police say the occupants of the car – an 81-year-old woman and two men aged 84 and 54 – were killed in the crash.

Queensland Ambulance Service said there was heavy fog in the area at the time.

The 52-year-old truck driver was taken to Kingaroy Hospital in a stable condition.

Nanango, which has a population of 3,400, is the second largest town in the South Burnett region after Kingaroy.

“Anyone with dash cam or CCTV from the area around the time of the crash is asked to contact police,” a police spokesperson said.

“The D’Aguilar Highway is expected to remain closed today with local diversions in place.

“Motorists are urged to avoid area.”

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
