Tom Ingram claims third win of the season in clinical fashion

Must read

Tom Ingram claimed a 30th career victory in the British Touring Car Championship as he blasted his way to the top step of the podium in race two at Thruxton.

Bouncing back from relinquishing pole position in the day’s earlier bout where he ultimately settled for fourth, the EXCELR8 Motorsport driver produced a superb switchback move on race one victor Jake Hill to triumph.

Hill had made a lightening start from the front row but he was soon reeled in by Ash Sutton and Dan Cammish. Ingram was not far behind and after closing on Cammish at the chicane, the pair went side-by-side, with the Hyundai of Ingram having to take avoiding action of the tyre stacks.

Sutton and Ingram would both hound Hill for the lead however the Ford Focus driver would sustain damage to his splitter following a lurid slide around the back of the circuit.

Struggling to maintain his front-running pace while carrying damage, Sutton dropped down the order while Ingram any moved forward, taking the lead from Hill at half distance.

Once out front he never looked back and cruised to victory while Hill and Cammish completed the podium. Dan Rowbottom and Sutton rounded out the top five.

Further back, Josh Cook held off a charging Colin Turkington to net sixth while Adam Morgan, Aron Taylor-Smith and Rob Huff occupied the remaining positions inside the top ten.

Race three is scheduled to begin at 17:20.
