The 2023/24 season officially comes to a close on Sunday as Monday marks the start of July and the 2024/25 campaign. That means clubs will be saying farewell to players upon the expiration of their contracts on June 30.
For Tottenham, nine players will be departing N17 for a fresh challenge elsewhere. It is a key summer at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as Ange Postecoglou looks to make the necessary changes to his playing squad to help them hit the next level.
The Lilywhites were very active in the transfer market 12 months ago and the same needs to happen this time around. As part of the squad changes ahead of the 2024/25 term, Spurs announced at the beginning of June the departures of Eric Dier, Ivan Perisic, Ryan Sessegnon and Japhet Tanganga at their end of their contracts.
Both Dier and Perisic did in fact leave Tottenham in January as they linked up with Bayern Munich and Hajduk Split respectively on initial loan deals. Dier went on to feature prominently under Thomas Tuchel at the Allianz Arena as Bayern went far in the Champions League but unfortunately couldn’t regain their Bundesliga crown.
Perisic, on the other hand, would only feature in seven games for Hajduk Split after battling back from the ACL injury he sustained in non-contact training at Tottenham in September but it was enough to see him make Croatia’s Euro 2024 squad. Both Dier and Perisic’s loan moves will become permanent following the conclusion of their Spurs contracts.
Whereas the aforementioned duo are all set for the 2024/25 season, it remains to be seen where exactly Sessegnon and Tanganga will be playing their football. Sessegnon endured another injury-hit campaign at Tottenham but Crystal Palace and West Ham have been linked with him so far this summer, with Millwall keen on signing Tanganga permanently after such a successful time on loan at The Den in the second half of last season.

Sunday will also mark the end of Tanguy Ndombele’s time at Tottenham. Earlier this month Spurs confirmed the mutual termination of his contract, which had one more year left to run on it.
A club statement read: “The Club can confirm the departure of Tanguy Ndombele following the mutual termination of his contract, effective from 30 June, upon the conclusion of his current loan spell.

“Signed from Olympique Lyonnais in July, 2019, the midfielder scored on his debut against Aston Villa and went on to make 91 appearances for us in all competitions, scoring 10 goals.
“During his time here, Tanguy had loan spells back at Lyon, Napoli and with Turkish Süper Lig side Galatasaray last season. We should like to wish Tanguy all the best for the future.”
Following underwhelming loan spells with Lyon, Napoli and Galatasaray, Ndombele will be hoping to get his career back on track at his next club amid so much hope initially following his move to Tottenham five years ago. The Frenchman was limited to only 469 minutes of action in his 19 league appearances for the Turkish side in the 2023/24 season.
Elsewhere, development squad player Charlie Sayers will wave goodbye to Tottenham following the conclusion of his contract and the same goes for Billy Heaps at the end of his third-year scholarship. Under-18s players Kieran Morgan and Han Willhoft-King complete the nine players exiting Tottenham on June 30, with QPR confirming the signing of Morgan in late May.
