They’ve already walked away with a brand new house. And now Queensland tradie brothers Rhys and Liam Almond are also $100,000 richer after scoring 37.5 out of 40 to claim the title of 2024 Dream Home champions.

The affable brothers were one of six teams competing in Seven’s reality renovating contest, their run-down Deception Bay Queenslander receiving a stunning renovation by their fellow competitors, now valued at a whopping $1.6 million.

Their landscape transformation, as revealed in Tuesday night’s finale episode, cemented them the win.

Describing his time on Dream Home as a “once in a lifetime” opportunity, Liam said he had relished working alongside his brother in the hard-fought competition.

“Rhys and I are mates, but we got to be brothers again, living under the one roof,” he said.

“Doing this with Rhys was one of the most meaningful and exciting things about the competition.

“We’re coming away from this very proud of every moment, and we’re both walking away as winners.”

Rhys, who left behind a young family to help his brother, says the prize money will go towards paying off his mortgage.

“(The prize money will be) life-changing for myself and my family, and that means the world to me,” he said.

Dream Home judges Lana Taylor, Simon Cohen, and Rosie Morley all unanimously praised the brothers’ efforts in transforming their backyard, with interiors expert Taylor saying she felt like she “stepped into a complete oasis.”
